The Story

About us

"Built by a SEND father & son, for SEND families."

Welcome to theSENDdad

Hi, I am theSENDdad — a proud father of a nearly 9-year-old son who is Autistic, has PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance), and is currently on the waiting list for an ADHD assessment.

We first noticed something was different when he was around 2 years old. At stay-and-play groups, his verbal development was far behind other children his age. After years of questions, worries, and navigating complex systems, he was officially diagnosed at age 5. Even now, he remains largely non-verbal and has difficulty with communication.

Over the years, one of our biggest struggles has been finding toys, tools, and equipment that truly meet his needs. It has been a constant battle — searching endlessly for something that works, often feeling isolated and overwhelmed.

That’s why we created this website.

We want to help other parents avoid the same frustrations and challenges we faced — to provide a trusted space where you can find products that actually work for children with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities). Everything we recommend has been selected through our lived experience, not just clinical theory.

We’re here to support, share, and hopefully make life a little easier for families like ours.

Thank you for visiting — we truly hope you find something here that makes your journey just a bit smoother.

Mission

"Helping you find what we couldn't."

At theSENDdad, our mission is to create a trusted space for SEND children, adults, and parents to find products that truly meet their unique needs.

We aim to make daily life easier by offering carefully chosen toys, tools, and equipment that support development, communication, and wellbeing.

Born from lived experience, every product we offer has been selected with purpose, because we understand that one-size-fits-all doesn’t work for our community.

Vision

"Making the hard days easier — one product at a time."

Our vision is to make life easier for SEND children, adults, and parents by becoming the go-to place for toys, aids, and sensory equipment that truly help.

We aim to specialise in products designed specifically for the SEND community, so families no longer have to search multiple places to find what they need.

We also believe in the power of shared experience — by highlighting what other SEND families are using and finding helpful, we hope to inspire confidence and connection across our community.
